Days for Girls is an International nonprofit organisation that has helped over 1 million women and girls in over 116 countries by providing them with washable femine hygiene kits and menstrual health education. Around the world girls and women resort to using rags, mattress stuffing, banana leaves and cardboard to manage their menstruation. There are now over 50,000 volunteers world wide sewing these kits. NZ has 18 teams throughout the country and last year produced 6,000 kits and 1,500 kits were supplied locally. I have started up a Nelson Team and we meet every Thursday 11-4pm at the Old Richmond Information Centre on Gladstone Rd. Richmond Rotary are sponsoring us to buy the 100% cotton fabric that the kits are made from. They are all sewn to a high standard and are expected to last 3-4 years.
